Summer coffee morning at Aldwickbury Golf Club

The sun shone brightly for our summer coffee morning at Aldwickbury Golf Club. We were delighted to be able to sit outside on the patio overlooking the lovely garden. We hope to make a summer coffee an annual event. We would like to thank the golf club staff for their service. Visit the picture gallery.

Friends of Alzey Quiz Night

Saturday 4th Nov, 7 pm for 7.30 pm at Park Hall, Harpenden

Now’s the time to organise your tables for this very popular annual Quiz Evening with Fish & Chips. The quiz will take place on Saturday 4th November at 7:00pm for 7:30pm at Park Hall with excellent Question Master Ginny St John Glew.

Tickets are priced at £13 a head and include a Fish and Chip Supper. Please be aware that this event, as usual, is a “Bring your own Drinks and Glasses” evening. You may also like to bring your own cutlery rather than use the weak plastic ones that are provided.

A raffle will be held on the evening. Raffle tickets can be purchased only with cash and we would appreciate you bringing money if you’d like tickets,

A ticket application form is attached to this Newsletter (the ideal number of participants per table is six, although we are happy to extend that number to a maximum of eight if really necessary).

PLEASE NOTE: The deadline for ticket applications is Thursday 19th October.

Lea Singers ‘Town Twinning’ Musical Celebration

Saturday 11th November,  7.30 pm, High Street Methodist Church

A special musical celebration of town twinning, supported by both the Friends of Alzey and Friends of Cosne, as well as our Town Mayor Fiona Gaskell, will be performed by this superb local choir. It aims to celebrate town twinning and has as its theme ‘Found in Translation’.

The repertoire includes the special choral commission by Kim Porter, Der Fluss ( The river), which was financed by the Friends of Alzey and Friends of Cosne to mark our long associations with our twin towns.

The varied programme will last a little over one hour to be followed by refreshments in the church hall. All the works, which include Händel’s Zadok the Priest, are settings of a text in a language other than the composer’s mother tongue.

A reduced price of £15 has been set for  members of the Friends of Cosne and Friends of Alzey. The link takes you to the concert details and a further click allows you to book your tickets –  no booking fee applies.
