Friends of Cosne AGM
Wednesday 5th March at 7pm for 7:30pm at the Engineer Pub
Our AGM this year will be again in the Engineer pub. This is a perfect opportunity to discuss our future events and the visit to Cosne cours-sur-Loire in May.
A glass of wine will be offered on your arrival. Please order your meal at the same time, which will be served after the AGM.
This is always a friendly informal evening, where we get a chance to catch up. We keep the formal part short and sweet, and the emphasis is on the social element. We are also open to any suggestions for future events.
We are hoping to see you there.
Quiz Night
Saturday 29th March at 7pm for 7:30pm at Park Hall
Now’s the time to organise your tables for this very popular and entertaining evening with our favourite quiz master Ginny. The ideal number of participants per table is six, although we are happy to extend that number to a maximum of eight people. If you do not have a party of six and would like to join another table, please let us know.
Tickets are priced at £16 a head and include a Fish and Chips or Scampi and Chips Supper. A vegetarian choice of Halloumi and Chips.
There is aPlease be aware that this event is a “Bring your own Drinks and Glasses” evening. You may also like to bring your own snacks and nibbles, gherkins, or anything that you would like to complement your meal with. Plastic forks are provided but you may prefer to bring your own cutlery.
A raffle will be held in the evening. Raffle tickets can be purchased only with cash, and we would appreciate you bringing money if you’d like tickets,

Visit to Cosne sur Loire
Friday 16th May 2024 for 4 days
Our trip to Cosne sur Loire in May is taking shape.
We will be travelling on Friday 16th May. We are waiting for a confirmation from the French about the return date, hoping to extend our visit by a day. We are planning to travel by Eurostar, change trains in Paris and arrive in Cosne in the early evening.
The provisional price of the tickets to Cosne is £183, which may change slightly closer to the date.
In Cosne we are usually staying with host families, but there is an option to stay in a hotel for those who prefer to do so. Our friends in Cosne organise group outings to places of interest, but there also will be time to spend with the hosts and personal time for exploration, i.e. visiting the very popular local market or neighbouring Sancerre.
This is an exciting opportunity to spend four days in France, explore some of the Loire valley region and learn about French life from within, all of this for about £200. Please feel free to invite any friends who love or are interested in anything French, speaking French is helpful but is not necessary.

If you prefer to travel by car, you still need to pay the deposit to secure your place. This will be refunded at the end of the trip.
